Current Solicitations and Contracting Information

The Fairfax County Public Schools Office of Design and Construction Services, under the assistant superintendent, Department of Facilities and Transportation Services, designs and constructs facilities for Fairfax County Public Schools. Most facilities modifications and all major capital improvements are contracted.

The designs for facility projects are usually prepared by architectural and/or engineering (A/E) firms selected for each project and performed under the direction of the Office of Design and Construction Services. These projects are then constructed by contractors with the construction administration performed jointly by the Office of Design and Construction Services, and the A/E firms.

If a project design exceeds the Office of Design and Construction's available staffing and/or time constraints, consulting architectural and/or engineering firms are selected to meet project design requirements. All non in-house projects are administered through the competitive bid process.
