About Us

The Office of Procurement Services (OPS) is the central procurement office for FCPS.  Our mission is to demonstrate good stewardship of taxpayer dollars and best practices in the purchase of goods and services through fair competitive processes in accordance with applicable legal authority, statutes, or law; provide timely distribution, quality customer service, and effective communication to our schools, departments, and vendors; and develop and implement innovative technology solutions to provide more efficient procurement and department-wide services.
The thresholds for small purchase and bids are:

• Small Purchases – Less than $5,000
• Informal Bids (requires quotes) - $5,000 - $49,999.99
• Formal Bids (sealed bidding) – Greater than $50,000

An understanding of FCPS procurement requirements and business practices helps us establish solid partnerships with our vendor community.  Please read the Doing Business with Fairfax County Public Schools guide to learn how FCPS procures goods and services and how vendors sell goods and services to us.

Vendors can also register to attend our periodic workshop, Selling to FCPS. The workshop includes information on how to do business with us, procurement law, purchasing authority, and methods of procurement.

All vendors interested in doing business with FCPS and with the Fairfax County Government should register with eVA, the Commonwealth of Virginia’s electronic procurement portal.  In addition, vendors can register to attend Fairfax County Government workshops.
