About Us

The mission of the Office of the Comptroller is to ensure the integrity of FCPS financial data; supply accurate and timely financial information to the School Board, FCPS management, and stakeholders; provide a system of effective and efficient financial processes; and monitor and reduce financial risk to FCPS. The mission is accomplished by ensuring financial records are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; establishing effective internal controls; continuously evaluating FCPS financial and business management practices; recommending and implementing business process improvements; conducting and coordinating compliance reviews; and performing risk assessments.

What's New

On May 26, 2011, the School Board adopted the FY 2012 Approved Budget.  The budget includes a $100 athletic administrative fee (AAF) charged per student, per sport for participation in Virginia High School League sports. The fee is capped at $200 per student.  Fees are non-refundable and will be waived for students eligible for the federal free or reduced-price meal program.

Invoices for the AAF will be mailed to parents and guardians in October 2011 (fall sports), December 2011 (winter sports) and April 2012 (spring sports). Payment options can be found at: http://www.fcps.edu/news/fees.shtm.
