Washington as a Farmer painting
Produced in partnership with George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens, this 30-minute program will provide students with the opportunity to learn more about George Washington as a farmer and a businessman.

Students will also learn about how a farm works; how farm resources are managed; how the foods we eat are produced; and how simple machinery works.  In addition, the program will provide students with information about the operation of a water-powered gristmill, the jobs that exist at a farm and mill, and the importance of animals to farming.

A teacher manual is available. The manual has background information and includes instructional ideas to use before and after viewing the program. To receive the manual, please click here.
