Poet Janet Wong has received high praise for Behind the Wheel, Poems About Driving. Her poems have been reprinted in textbooks and anthologies, as well as in unusual venues from subway posters to radio shows. With a sense of pride in her Korean, Chinese, and American background, Wong's poetry reflects some of the differences between Chinese and Korean customs, and the American way of life.
Wong reads poems from Good Luck Gold and Other Poems and A Suitcase of Seaweed. Video segments include a portrait of Bo Jia, illustrator of The Trip Back Home; Lake Braddock Secondary students commenting on the challenges of moving to a new country; student readings; and a visual rendition of poem, “Behind the Wheel".
