Melanie Stanley

Stanley has given young readers an opportunity to learn about John Smith, John Paul Jones, Jane Addams and George Washington Carver with her simple, but well-informed, biographies.

During the program, she explains how biographies are gateways to history, as she highlights the writing process. Segments include Braddock Elementary School students commenting on biographies, a historical re-enactor of John Paul Jones talking about America's first great naval battle, and a fifth grader explains how she interviewed her grandparents for a homework assignment.
