Ann Matthews Martin

As a child growing up in Princeton, NJ, Ann Matthews Martin loved reading. While editing other people's books, Martin began to write her own, and soon she was devoting all of her time to writing about the lives and adventures of young girls. She is the author of the popular Baby-sitters Club series, which contains many incidents, situations, and characters that she remembers from her own childhood.

Ann M. Martin talks about her Newbery Honor Award book A Corner of the Universe. During the program, she discusses character development, creating multiple drafts, and the challenges of co-authoring a book.
