Meet the Author promotes literacy and an interest in reading and writing by giving students direct access to authors who share their personal stories, offer writing tips, and encourage students to “keep reading, keep writing, keep dreaming.”
During the half-hour programs, authors describe their approach to the writing process, character development, and ways to build a plot. Sometimes authors even share a sneak peek of their books not yet published. With each book talk, students ask questions and authors respond with inspiring and lively commentary that impacts how writers may approach their craft. After all, students are writers, too, and they know the challenges of research, revision, and publishing.
Nominated for several Emmy® Awards and winner of numerous Telly Awards, Meet the Author brings the process of reading and writing to life. The goal of each program is to motivate students to read new books, write their own stories, practice the art of illustration, and find and establish their place in a reading and writing world.
