Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) remains alert to the possibility of terrorist attacks that might threaten the Washington metropolitan area. FCPS has been asked to cooperate with local, state, and federal health and public safety agencies to address safety and security concerns for its schools and the community.
Through the FCPS emergency messaging system, FCPS will continue to keep the school community aware of security precautions being taken in its schools. For information about your schools participation in these and other critical incident preparations, please contact your principal.

All schools have access to members of the crisis teams. These are social workers and psychologists who work with school counselors to provide individual and group counseling to students in need. The crisis teams are composed of staff members with mental health training who are prepared to address the crises facing our students. Contact Cindy Dickinson, coordinator, at cindy.dickinson@fcps.edu or 571-423-4310.
Should a situation arise in which any student, particularly based on cultural or religious background or belief, is being targeted, harassed, bullied, or assaulted, mediation and conflict resolution assistance is available by the Safe and Drug Free Youth Section at 571-423-4270.
The Office of Student Services has compiled a list of speakers to address students, parents, or staff members on issues related to cultural and religious intolerance. Speakers may include parents, religious and community leaders, and FCPS staff members. 571-423-4300.
