News and Announcements:
PROGRESS REPORTS NEXT WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 15
Students’ regular progress reports will be going home next Wednesday, February 15.  In addition to the regular progress report, inside the progress report envelope will be another progress report, the “standards-based” progress report.  This year at EVES, the standards-based progress report is not official; it is a trial run this year so that students and parents can begin to familiarize themselves with the new format.   This quarter the new standards-based progress report will include information for student progress in language arts only.  Please read the materials about the new progress report that are being sent home, as those materials will likely answer your questions.

PTA MEETING

SILENT AUCTION
It's almost here!! Please join us this Friday for one of the largest school fundraising events of the year.  There will be plenty of fun, food, and prizes for the entire Eagle View Community.  As a reminder, this is NOT a “drop-off the kids event” but you can be sure parents will be entertained as well.  Tickets can be purchased at the door for $6 and is open to the public so invite friends, family, and co-workers.  All funds raised go directly back to support the students, teachers, and families of Eagle View.  Help us make this event a success and win some great prizes too!

THE BUMBREY BUZZ
The Empty Pot written by Demi

  • Discuss the importance of honesty with your child.  Ask him/her to share ways that being honest pays off in school and at home.  Challenge your child to list or chart the ways he/she is honest every day.
  • Engage your child in a discussion about how honesty builds trust.  You may begin with a question or two to initiate the conversation.  (For example: What is the connection between honesty and trust?  How does it feel to trust someone and to be trusted?  Why is trust connected to respect for self?)
  • Encourage your child to perform at his/her personal best in all he/she does.  Assist your child in developing his/her own academic and behavioral goals and discuss the significance of working hard toward achieving those goals.
  • When your child does his/her personal best, praise him/her for effort put forth and accomplishing specific goals.  Don’t forget to create new goals when previous goals have been mastered!  Reinforce with your child that honesty, establishing trust, and performing at his/her personal best are expectations at home and school.
