Additional Information on ESY Summer Services

IEP teams can consider a range of times, durations, and types of services when determining what services are needed to ensure FAPE for an individual child. In the past, IEP teams determined that students who were eligible for ESY services often required these services during the summer, due to the extended school holiday. All ESY services and transportation are provided free of charge as a part of the student’s access to a free, appropriate public education (FAPE), in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Improvement Act (IDEA) of 2004.
