Job Coach Services

What are Job Coach Services?
Job coach services are designed to support students’ success as independent workers.  Job coaches assist students who have the potential for independent employment, but need individualized, short-term, on-the-job support and training to succeed.  The job coaches:

  • Provide students with one-to-one mentoring/training
  • Report to work with the student on the first day
  • Establish a daily work routine and schedule
  • Provide systematic training of specific job duties
  • Model and reinforce appropriate work-related behaviors, work habits, and general work skills
  • Assist the student in social integration and self-advocacy skills
  • Assist the student in work production

In addition, job coaches support employer expectations and assess students’ strengths and needs at the job site.  They train students to perform jobs independently, evaluate student progress, and provide feedback to teachers and employers.

Who to contact?
Referrals can be made through the student's Employment and Transition representative, the Department Chair at the student's high school, or directly to the Job Coach Program coordinators.
