Conflict Resolution and Mediation Services Program

Conflict resolution trainings are offered periodically throughout the year and as an academy class in the summer; mediation services and in-service trainings are also offered to FCPS staff. Currently, FCPS has about 100 peer mediation programs at various stages of development. In addition, many elementary schools teach conflict resolution skills as part of their guidance curriculum. Gang Prevention Program

FCPS works in partnership with the Fairfax County Police Department and the Northern Virginia Gang Task Force to monitor reports of gang activity. Workshops on how to recognize signs of gang involvement are offered for parents and/or guardians, administrators, and teachers. This training also identifies gangs currently active in Northern Virginia and provides information on what parents and/or guardians, school staff members and community members can do. Prevention and Intervention Education < http://www.nvfs.org/pages/page.asp?page_id=91756 > is available through a partnership with Northern Virginia Family Services to middle school aged students who are identified by parents and/or guardians or teachers as being at risk for gang involvement. In addition, the training identifies gangs in Fairfax County and provides information on what parents and/or guardians, school staff, members, and community members can do. Download brochure
