School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC)

The School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) advises the Fairfax County School Board about issues promoting healthy youth in our schools and community. The purpose of SHAC is to assist with the development of health policy in the school division and the evaluation of the status of school health, health education, the school environment, and health services.

Members are appointed by the Fairfax County School Board to serve two-year terms. Fairfax County citizens serve on SHAC, representing, among others, each member of the School Board, and a variety of citizen groups, as mandated by School Board Regulation 1710. The School Health Advisory Committee satisfies all requirements for membership and responsibilities as established in the Code of Virginia, Section 22.1-275.1.
