In Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), IMPACT II grants are awarded each year. The Fairfax County Education Foundation, Inc. funds all The Teachers Network--IMPACT II grants. All award-winning grants are described in Foundations of Excellence--a catalog published annually and distributed to all Fairfax County schools and all IMPACT II sites nationally.
Any instructional-level FCPS staff member (FECEP teacher, counselor, librarian, K-12 teacher) may submit a proposal. Principals, assistant principals, student teachers, instructional assistants, parents, and substitutes are not eligible to apply.
The three types of grants offered are:
- Disseminator Grants are awarded to teachers who have developed a high quality program, have used it in the classroom, and know it is effective. ($800)
- Adaptor Grants are awarded to teachers who modify a Teachers Network--IMPACT II program by using a different perspective or a different setting. ($400)
- Teacher Researcher Grants are awarded to a group or team of teachers who uses research to investigate questions associated with student learning. ($1,000)
The national IMPACT II office has a web site at http://www.teachnet.org. This site was created to support and connect innovative teachers through grants and networking opportunities in the areas of curriculum, leadership, policy and new media.
