Grade Level High-Frequency Sight Words
Below are the suggested high-frequency words (words we use often in reading and writing) by grade level. Please remember that when students can read and write these words with automaticity (“in a snap”), it frees their minds up to do the harder and crucial work of making meaning as they read and using what they learn to make the world a better place. Questions? Feel free to contact your child’s teacher or the Literacy Specialist at evi.hickman@fcps.edu.
Fifth and Sixth grade students should review 500+ High Frequency Word List to make sure all words on the list are words they can read and write “in a snap”.
