Cluster Vision and Mission
Vision Statement
Our vision as a community of principals is to support one another in our own professional growth so we can lead school communities to continuously improve individual learning for all students and staff members. We ensure that all students have access to a world-class rigorous and relevant curriculum and teachers have access to the best research-based instructional practices. We collaborate to understand what is working in each other's school and how we can make changes in our own school to ensure the success of all students.
By collaborating with and mentoring one another, we meet to build a strong network of professionals whose mission, vision, commitments, goals, and instructional practices are aligned with FCPS district and school board priorities. We learn from each other, celebrate our successes, grow professionally together, and share ideas and resources that create a clearly articulated K-12 curriculum that supports student learning.
Our vision as a community of principals and school-based administrators in Cluster VIII is to:
- share information about FCPS and cluster instructional initiatives and operational policies
- review and discuss current research-based best practices and leadership initiatives
- collaborate to establish and lead equitable, vibrant, stimulating, and ever growing 21st Century learning communities
As educational leaders we guide community leaders, parents and staff to support all of our students to achieve and perform at high levels and to become productive citizens of the United States of America and our global community.
Mission Statement
Working with FCPS educational leaders, our school staffs, parents and communities, we provide students with a world class education that prepares them to be responsible, productive citizens of the local, regional, national, and global community.
District Priorities
Our Cluster VIII vision & mission statements support the district 2009-2010 priorities: Closing Achievement Gaps, Professional Learning Communities & Best Practices.
The Goals:
- All students will obtain, understand, analyze, communicate, and apply knowledge and skills to achieve success in school and in life
- All students will demonstrate the aptitude, attitude, and skills to lead responsible, fulfilling, and respectful lives. Working in partnership with school and family
- All students will understand and model the important attributes that people must have to contribute to an effective and productive community and the common good of all.
The Charge:
Focusing on our student achievement goals, closing the gaps in achievement, and using the tenets of professional learning communities to ensure each school is engaging all staff in the utilization of the best instructional practices.
The Priorities:
- Plan and Teach for Student Learning: to allow all students to master the Program of Studies concepts at a very high level by designing lessons that are totally congruent, not correlated, but congruent with the standards.
- Assess Student Learning: to promote learning by using the e-Cart tool. Is the assessment truly driving the instruction? How do we know? Where is the evidence?
- A clear focus on Student-Centered Learning Environment– What do we do to build collaborative and respectful relationships with students, colleagues and parents?
