Due to inclement weather or other emergency situations, it may be necessary to close schools for the entire day, to open schools late, or to close early.

You are probably thinking, “It’s September, I don’t need to worry about this until winter.” In a typical year, yes, but the weather the past few years has been anything but typical. Our area has seen floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, and storms that caused widespread power outages, not to mention an earthquake. (more)

Make the College Connection at the 37th Annual College Fair and College Night Programs

Free Workshop for Kinship Care Families to Be Held October 18, Registration Deadline Is October 11

A free training for adults caring for children of relatives is being sponsored by the Fairfax County Kinship Care Committee and the Department of Family Services. It will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Alexandria on Thursday, October 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (more)
