You can register for these PRC/FCPS sponsored and co-sponsored workshops, online or by calling The FCPS Parent Resource Center at 703-204-3941.

Accommodations and interpreters are available. Please let us know two weeks in advance if you need these services.

Note: When schools are closed or there is a late opening or early closing due to inclement weather, our workshops are cancelled. Selected workshops may be rescheduled.

Braille Basics for Parents

Register now for this FREE hands-on, interactive workshop created for parents/guardians of students who are blind or visually impaired with IEPs in Virginia. Braille basics will be taught along with practical strategies to promote tactile learning for the enhancement of pre-braille literacy skills. This workshop is sponsored by the Virginia Department of Education and the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired. Registration deadline is July 7, 2014.

Brothers and Sisters of Children with Special Needs: Unique Concerns, Unique Opportunities

Register now for this FREE workshop for parents, educators, social workers, clinicians and service providers presented by Sibshops creator Don Meyer! Learn what researchers, clinicians and siblings themselves say about growing up with siblings who have special needs. Share what you have learned in your family or the families you serve.

In the afternoon, Don Meyer will moderate an expert panel of adult brothers and sisters who have siblings with special needs from 1:00 - 2:30. Learn and share what these siblings wish you really knew about the unique concerns and opportunities experienced by siblings.  You can bring your own lunch or purchase lunch on the George Mason University campus.

Join Sibshops creator Don Meyer for this FREE Sibshop for 8 to 13 year-old siblings of children with special needs! Siblings will make new friends, meet other siblings in a fun recreational setting, play games & more! Lunch will be provided.
