How to Build a Successful Mentoring Program Using the Elements of Effective Practice, the latest and perhaps most important work in years to advance quality mentoring.     Starting a mentoring program requires planning, support, resources, and most importantly, commitment and passion! Although programs will vary in structure and format, there are some key "Quality Assurance Standards" that should guide your program development. The Quality Assurance Standards focus on 10 areas that must be carefully developed for a mentoring program to be effective. The standards are as follows:

    2. A recruitment plan for mentors and mentees
    3. An orientation for mentors and mentees
    4. Eligibility screening for mentors and mentees
