Programs and Services

Community Liaisons:

Bilingual staff members provide information and resources to link new FCPS families to school, community, and county resources. Descriptive flyers are available in English as well as Arabic, Korean, and Spanish. 

Early Literacy Program:

Free interactive parent education and school readiness program for Arabic, Korean or Spanish -speaking families with children from infancy through age five. Program is offered at various elementary schools, community centers and faith-based institutions in Fairfax County.

Interactive parent orientation provides information about the school system and the importance of parents' involvement in their children's education. Also in Korean and Spanish

Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY):

Free program, English and Spanish, for parents of children three to five. Parents receive scholastic activities and structure to teach their children, in their home, and prepare them for school, including transition through kindergarten.

Kinship Care:

Services and programs provided by FCPS and county agencies that support grandparents and other family members raising children.

Parent Information Line:

Call-in phone line in English, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese for families to request information and resources about FCPS.

Parent Liaisons:

School-based parent liaisons provide resources and assistance to help families navigate the school system and become more involved in their children's education.

Parenting Classes:

A variety of fee-based general parenting and court-approved classes for parents and guardians of infants through teens. Some classes available in Spanish and Korean.

Pre-Kindergarten Literacy Program:

Free interactive parenting education and school readiness program for African Heritage and African-American families with children from two to five years of age not enroleld in preschool or kindergarten.
