
Bi-lingual community liaisons support student registrars by talking with parents and determining if they have any needs that go beyond registering their child for school.
The Role of the Community Liaison
Community Liaisons work closely with Fairfax County Public Schools, community organizations, and Fairfax County Government Human Services Coordinated Services Planning staff members to locate appropriate personnel and resources to meet the following needs:
- transportation
- housing
- health
- food
- legal
- job
- financial
Community Liaisons help parents learn the necessary skills to empower them as advocates for their children by successfully navigating FCPS and Fairfax County government offices.
What Community Liaisons Do
- Assist parents with completing forms and applications such as, free and reduced meals, recreation programs, health insurance, adult education classes, and job training.
- Link parents to services such as: Child Find, Child Care Assistance and Referral Program (CCAR), SkillSource Centers, food banks, and health clinics.
- Respond to FCPS Parent Information Phone Line in Spanish and Korean:

- Facilitate Getting to Know FCPS: A Parent Orientation to individuals or groups at registration sites and in the community. The orientation is offered in Arabic, English, French, Korean, and Spanish.
