Woodson Adult High School
Welcome!
Thank you for deciding to complete your high school education with us. We know it’s difficult to return to school when many of you work and have families. We congratulate you on making this first step. We will work with you to answer your questions about completing your credits, investigating colleges, preparing for a job, and benefiting the most from your experiences at Woodson Adult High School (WAHS).
At Woodson we strive to create an educational community which promotes and affirms diversity. We’ll work in partnership with you to ensure that your learning experience is positive, energizing, and productive. Our purpose is to help older adults improve their lives by earning a high school diploma. We love what we do!
Our programs are for Fairfax County residents who are over 18 years old and who do not have a high school diploma from the US or another country.
WAHS is a full-service high school for adults 18 years of age and older. We offer all courses necessary for a high school diploma. WAHS is fully accredited by the Commonwealth of Virginia. You have several options to earn the credits you need for graduation. Make an appointment with one of our counselors, Ms. Nicole Low or Ms. Janet Nelson, to learn all the ways you can get your credits, such as the following:
- Take up to four courses at once, all taught by certified Fairfax County Public Schools teachers.
- Take college courses for both high school and college credit.
- Take correspondence or independent study courses with the support of an advisor.
- Take part in History on Location Saturday mini-courses.
- Work with trained volunteer tutors.
It is never too late to finish high school.
