The HATT Project |

The Woodley Hills HATT Grant The start of the 2006 - 2007 school year brought many new things to Woodley Hills. During that year a group of teachers wrote and were awarded an Hewlett Packard grant focusing on the effects an environment has on animals. We titled the grant HATT ( Habitats, Animals, Time and Technology ). Through our efforts, we hope to expose Woodley Hills students to animals and their environments in the Alexandria area, as well as animals studied through the science curriculum, and internet study. So far the HATT teachers and their students have visited Huntley Meadows Park, conducted studies of different animals and their environments via the internet and investigated animals and environments in the FCPS science curriculum. We have built a habitat in the courtyard of the school and now seek to populate it with quails, rabbits and turtles. What a great opportunity this is for everyone. The students and teachers involved in the project have worked cooperatively to plant all the various plants included in the habitat as well as maintain it's beautiful appearance. If you are interested in helping we need outdoor rabbits ( only 4 - same gender only) 4 quails or other ground fowl, bird seed for feeders and turtles that are indigenous to this area. Please contact Mr.Veasley if you can help. (703-799-2000 or email Lawrence.Veasley@fcps.edu)
