STEM At Walt Whitman Middle School

Mount Vernon High School and Whitman Middle School are the proud recipients of a $1.25 million dollar STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) grant which will fund numerous opportunities for students, teachers, parents, and community members to learn how STEM Education makes a difference in the educational programs that will be held at Mount Vernon High School and Whitman Middle School for enrolled students at either school.

Walt Whitman educational community will increase student awareness in the area of science, technology engineering and math, thus increasing grades 7-12 student achievement through the STEM program by promoting higher level thinking skills, increasing conceptual knowledge, and increasing the application of science
Support interdisciplinary and collaborative teaching, staff development and parent and community involvement.
Establish activities integrating as well as linking business/community partnerships across disciplines and education.
Support and foster collaborations to develop learning experiences that provide pathways into careers in the STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and education (Science & Mathematics Teaching K-16)
