    This summer, TWO wonderful FREE Summer X-STREAM  Experiences will take place at Walt Whitman Middle School!  We would like to invite our students to participate!  Registration is necessary.  Student selection will be done on a “First Come!     Walt Whitman’s Bio X-STREAM Experience   July 7 – July 11, 2014  9:00 am to 2:00pm
    Dr. Kristy Collins, Professor of Bioinformatics at Virginia Tech University
    Transportation, Breakfast and Lunch are provided
    40 Participants (20 current 7th Grade Students and 20 Current 8th Grade Students)

    VEX Robotics X-STREAM Experience  July 14 – July 25, 2014  9:00 am to 2:00 pm

    Transportation, Breakfast and Lunch provided
    60 Participants (20 rising 7th Graders; 20 current 7th graders; 20 current 8th graders)
    Students in this program will learn about VEX Robotics and how robotics relates to Science, Technology, READING, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as well as Problem Solving!  Student will also learn about programming robots.  Registration form is necessary.

    We also invite our students to take advantage of the Mount Vernon High School STEMP Camp activities:

  • FREE STEM Institute @ Mt. Vernon HS

  • MVHS STEM Summer Institutes are back!!
    This year's Institutes will focus on the topics of Forensics, Robotics, Rockets and Video Games. Each week long institute will provide your student with a unique hands-on approach to the individual topics. Sessions are scheduled from 8:00am - 2:30pm each day and courses are offered for MS and HS age groups. Institutes begin on July 7th and will conclude on August 1st, 2014.
    We are also offering a week long Math Institute designed to prepare students who are scheduled to take Algebra 1 or 2 in September. This prep course will help bridge the gap between courses completed from the previous school year and the upcoming courses. The Math Institute will be offered from August 4th - August 8th, 2014 from 8:00am - 2:30pm.
    Registration is on a first come, first serve basis, so don't miss this opportunity!!!
