Your child is interested in the String Orchestra program at school. He/she
should agree to the following rules in order to make the program a success:
STRING RULES
- Remain in the strings program for the entire year!
- Daily practice on weekly assignments (Practice records will
be distributed. 10 minutes initially for beginners, 20 minutes for intermediate/advanced
students.)
- Bring your instrument, music and pencil to EVERY
CLASS. Be ready to take notes in class if you come unprepared
in your lesson day.
- Exhibit appropriate behavior going to and from class; be attentive
and respectful during class.
- Maintain instrument in good playing condition (e.g. replace broken
strings promptly).
Mrs. Trachtenberg will be at White Oaks on Mon./Tues./Fri. &
Ravensworth on Wed./Thurs. Your child will be notified regarding
lesson day and time.
SUPPLY LIST
Please have the following items by the third week of September: (NOTE:
Either Mrs. Trachtenberg or Music Store can measure child.)
A 1/4 1I2 314 or FULL SIZE VIOLIN/ CELLO I BASS is recommended.
A 12" 13" 14" 15" SIZE VIOLA is recommended.
A Shoulder Pad for violin and violas students ( a soft sponge
or piece of foam about 1" thick and two rubber bands works fine.)
A box of Rosin for the bow hair.
A clean, soft cloth with which to "dust" the instrument
(NOTE: Never use water or furniture polish on the instrument.)
A folder with pockets to hold music.
Cello/Bass Only need End-Pin Rests for the floor.
A Music Stand for practice at home. (Stands need not be brought
to school until concerts.)
Method Books will be provided. They will however, be collected in June.
PLEASE SHOP EARLY FOR THE BEST INSTRUMENTS AND SUPPLIES!
