About the Media Center

The Westgate Elementary School Media Center encourages students to:
  • investigate research projects and new ideas,
  • discover interesting facts, and
  • find fantastic fiction books.

Students, staff, faculty and parents are encouraged to come to the media center and check out new books, research, and READ !



Loan Policy

Students in Kindergarten may check out one book each week.
Students in First and Second grade may check out two books each week.
Students in Third through Sixth grade may check out four books each week.
   (or three books and one magazine).

The loan period is two weeks.



Virginia Readers Choice Books

The Virginia State Reading Association has selected 10 books for students in Virginia schools to vote on. Westgate Elementary School will be holding our Virginia Readers Choice vote in Mid-february. To be eligible to vote, you must have read yourself (or have listened to) four books in your category. All of the books are available in the Westgate Media Center.
