Welcome to the Westgate PTA "HANDS ACROSS WESTGATE"

Your children need you! The Westgate PTA invites you to partner with us to make a difference in the education and quality of life for our children. We know you love your children and want to do the best for them. The PTA can help you do that! We all know that children learn more and have better lives when parents, school staff, students, and the community work together. PTA brings all these groups together to share thoughts and ideas about programs and activities that benefit children. Our PTA provides information and resources that strengthen these relationships.

Each school year parents, guardians, teachers and staff from Westgate come together to plan events for the students and their families, purchase needed supplies for the school and discuss education and safety issues relevant to Westgate.

The Westgate PTA has an annual budget of approximately $10,000-- 85% of which is funded by the Sally Foster fundraiser held at the beginning of each school year.

The Westgate PTA sponsors many family-oriented social events during the school year: Fall Festival held in October, Family Fun Night held in February and the Spring Picnic in May. These events are run by volunteers and paid for by the PTA.

The Westgate PTA sponsors assemblies at the school and pays for field trip buses. Planned assemblies for this school year include Atlantic Coast Theatre, "A World of Wonderful Tales," Mobile Ed Productions, "Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." and the Bureau of Lectures and Artists," Rip Van Winkle."

The PTA holds a monthly meeting where the "business at hand" issues are addressed. Such issues include anything from the next social event to planning retirement parties for staff, or discussing safety issues such as bus stops or working with safety patrols. All interested persons are encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings. We sponsor such activities as Math and Science Night, and we will be assisting the teachers in Heritage Night and lending a hand with the Physical Education programs such as Hoop Shoot, Jump Rope for Heart and Field Day.

Dues Information
Dues for 2007-2008 is $10.00 per member.

Meeting Schedules
All PTA meetings begin at 7pm and child care is provided.
All parents, guardians, teachers, school staff, and community members are invited to join. Remember - our children come first!

Annual Events

Fall Festival | Family Night

Fall Festival: October 26, 2007 from 6:30-8:30 pm

Fall Festival is an annual Westgate PTA event scheduled in October. We have decorated doors, games, prizes, moon bounce, pizza, cotton candy and lots of fun. Fall Festival takes a lot of candy and volunteers.

Volunteers needed as this is a huge event and it takes a lot of people to make this work. We need persons to give out candy, hand out pizza, cotton candy, run the games and set up (this takes no experience at all! - the jobs are very easy).

Baked Goods - We need lots of baked goods for our baked goods table and for the Cake Walk. You don't need to sign up to bring in baked goods but we need A LOT! So just bring them into the office the day of Fall Festival.

Fundraising

Sally Foster |Fuddruckers Night

Sally Foster

Sally Foster is Westgate PTA's main fundraiser at the onset of each school year. Families purchase wrapping paper and other items in which the Westgate PTA receives a majority of the funds. This fundraiser accounts for 85% of our budget.

Fuddrucker's

Fuddruckers Restaurant is a local eatery that specializes in burgers. They support the Westgate PTA by donating 50% of the gross sales during specified hours. The restaurant is located in Vienna. The date and time for the 2007-2008 school year are:
