Westfield PRIDE

Westfield PRIDE: a new character ed. campaign that identifies a set of common core values that are representative of feedback from students, staff and parents (ex. Surveys). Promotional ideas include banners, magnets, signs, PRIDE lesson plans for teachers, PowerPoint presentations, website promotion and committee work just to name a few.

P = personal responsibility (understanding the impact that your behavior has on other students, teachers, staff, parents, community, etc.) and accepting responsibility for your behavior at school, at home and in the community.

R = respect- for self, others and property. Examples: cleaning up after yourself in the cafeteria, tolerance for and acceptance of others; their beliefs and backgrounds, appropriate language, dress and behavior, respecting the school- no vandalism, no defacing school property, etc.

I = integrity- truthfulness, honesty. Examples: avoid cheating, plagiarism, misrepresentation, calling yourself in sick, sportsmanship, etc.

D = discipline- demonstrating self-discipline, work ethic, good sportsmanship, etc. at school, at home, in the community, on and off the playing fields and courts, on and off the stages.

E = empathy- identifying with and/or understanding the feelings, thoughts or attitudes of others. Bullying and harassing behavior will not be tolerated.
