We are one of 65 yearbooks chosen from thousands across the country. This is a National championship win and the first time the Predator has been named to this exclusive CSPA award. WP Photojournalism will be traveling to Columbia University in NYC in March to receive the award.

Because the Crown Awards, Gold and Silver, are among the nation’s highest awards for scholastic journalism, it is an extraordinary distinction for the West Potomac High School Predator to be named a Crown finalist. Evaluated by a committee consisting of journalism educators and professional journalists, the Predator Crown designation recognizes the overall excellence of your yearbook in writing and editing, coverage, editorial leadership, design, graphics and artwork, and photography. You have been singled out for your achievement. Congratulations to a great team. A Crown award is a tribute to your vision, leadership and direction.

Wolverine Time is the 30-minute window after third period during which students can receive academic intervention, remediation, or enrichment. Students can be invited to see any of their teachers during Wolverine Time. Teachers extend such an invitation by issuing a Wolverine Time pass. Students can also request a Wolverine Time pass if they self-identify as needing extra time with a teacher. Additionally, the academic intervention team is examining students' previous years' performance data to identify students in need of some tighter structure around Wolverine Time. Students who do not have a Wolverine Time pass will remain in their third-period classroom. For these students, Wolverine Time must still be productive: for example, it can be time spent working on upcoming assignments, collaborating with other students to review shared course material, or reading.
Wolverine Time is another change in how West Potomac addresses students' needs for enrichment and support. We believe this model recognizes that all students at different times will need extra help and will need to be challenged further. We are starting WT slowly, trying to build community understanding of how it can work -- and also looking for kinks and potential problems. Please do not hesitate to provide feedback about WT.
