Welcome to fifth grade! Fifth Graders participate in many new and exciting activities throughout the school year. In fifth grade we take math a step farther with long division and fractions. In Social Studies we study Ancient Cultures and celebrate Medieval Day. In Science we explore light, sound, microscopes, pendulums and travel to the Chesapeake Bay. During Language Arts we focus on helping students become skillful, more descriptive, creative writers. We believe technology to be a key ingredient to becoming successful citizens of the world and your child will use and be exposed to many innovative and new technologies throughout the school year.
Waples Mill has high expectations for your child's academic success. The parent role is extremely important in maintaining and achieving these expectations. All parents are encouraged to participate in their child’s education by overseeing homework and assignment completion, to volunteer at school, or to be a mentor.
