" Reagan, bring my horse from the stables so I may go for a ride!", demanded Lady Lisa. " Yes Milady." Reagan bowed low. He hurried off to bring her horse. The deed done, he sighed and rested his head against the stable door and closed his eyes. ~ ~ ~ " Reagan!" He jerked awake. " Reagan!" Lady Lisa repeated. " Why aren't you cleaning the tack?" " So sorry Milady." Reagan bustled off to do so. Lady Lisa huffed and, arm strung through Lord Smith's broad right arm, strolled briskly back to the manor house. ~ ~ ~ The next day, Lord Smith went to wake up Lady Lisa, but all he found was a red stain on the flowered bedspread. He walked to the other side of the bed, and almost stepped on a bloody Lady Lisa!! " Oh Lady Lisa!! Who did this to you?" " Milady!" she croaked hoarsely, then went still. ~ ~ ~ By noon, the whole manor house knew what had happened. And by the next day, the whole village knew, also. In the market, the only talk was of who could have done the horrible deed. Lord Smith noticed that Reagan was somewhat more cheerful. " Reagan, what did you think of Lady Lisa?" " Oh , Milady was very kind to Reagan!" Reagan seems to be the only person who calls Lady Lisa 'Milady', Lord Smith pondered. ~ ~ ~ The next day, Reagan was put in the dungeons. Because, in fact , there was blood on his work clothes, just as Lord Smith had suspected.
