Terraset Celebrates Veterans Day

On Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11, Terraset had special visitors from the VFW Sterling Post 9478. Mr. Stanley Dixon and Mr. Bill Atkinson shared their military experiences and sang patriotic songs with the children, and also answered questions from the students. Every student was given a red poppy for remembrance and the Veterans explained the significance of the poppies. The students were interested and engaged with the visitors and the true meaning of Veterans Day and what it means to be a veteran were the focus of the program. All grade levels were involved and many students wanted to share stories from their own families. Mrs. Cury was presented with a special award for Terraset. The certificate of appreciation was "as special recognition of noteworthy programs developed for the benefit of our nation's youth and reflecting outstanding credit upon the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States."
Ms. Matthews' kindergarteners used Veterans Day to learn about heroes and think about who are heroes in their lives. More...
