Miss Matthews’ Kindergarten class learned all about heroes. We started by using the Frayer Model (an organizational chart) to list the characteristics we thought that a hero needed, then listed examples and non-examples of heroes, and finally came up with our definition of a hero, “A hero is someone who helps others without thinking of themselves.” |

| We then enjoyed reading some books about heroes and wrote about our heroes. We also identified the people in the military as heroes, which led us to learn about and celebrate Veterans Day. We got to meet some Veterans, read books about Veterans Day and make flags and a class book to send to Walter Reed Medical Center. | ![]() Kenneth, Joel, and Dylan |
