4th Grade Language Arts Sites
Reading Comprehension Websites: These websites highlight some of the reading strategies that we teach in school.
http://www.readwritethink.org – Look at the web resources and student activities sections.
Websites about specific authors and books: You would be amazed at how many authors and books have websites dedicated to them. If you child really loves a particular author or book, a site like this is a great way to make a text to web connection!
Looking for something new to read?
Book Recommendations: Encouraging your child to write about a favorite book builds both reading comprehension and writing skills. Websites that allow children to publish book reviews and read the reviews of other children may encourage the reluctant writer to try.
Book Clubs: Book clubs are frequently used in school as way to enhance a child’s reading. If your child is interesting in starting a book club outside of school, this is a great resource.
Magazines are a great way to captivate kids and encourage more reading:
* Although we recommend portions of these websites, as always it is the parents’ responsibility to check over the websites before you let your children use them. |
