LIBRARY'S MISSION STATEMENT

To be an integral part of the instructional program at J.E.B. Stuart High School and to provide our school community with the best possible resources and services.

POLICIES

The Stuart Library aims to be an integral part of Stuart's instructional program by providing the school community with the best possible resources and services. Students play a vital role in ensuring that the library is put to best use. The following policies are observed.

  • The library is an academic area and is to be used for study, research, and quiet reading
  • Books are checked out to students for 3 weeks and can be renewed.
  • Fines for overdue books are 10 cents/day (reference materials are $1/day)
  • Food and drink (except water) are not permitted in the library
  • Cell phones and other electronic devices are prohibited in the library. After 2:05pm, students can make and receive calls or text messages in the hallway.
  • Students are required to have a pass from a teacher or administrator for admittance to the library during class time. Lunch passes are available at the library circulation desk.
  • Students are welcome to the library at any point during lunch. However, they are allowed to come in once and leave once.
  • Students are expted to take care of the library materials and furnishings, push chairs in, and place trash in the proper receptacles.
  • Library computers are monitored. Computers in the library and computer labs are to be used for educational purposes.
