The following is a recommended timeline for IB Diploma Candidates. Remember each student is different and may not follow the recommended course of action. Always keep in communication with the IB Coordinator and the student's School Counselor.

(1) Meet with IB Coordinator to plan Junior and Senior year IB Coursework.

(2) Get CAS forms from IB Coordinator and ask questions about what CAS.

(1) Begin CAS work, keep careful records.

(2) Do IB Summer Reading and IB Assignments

(1) First official IB Diploma Candidate meeting

(2) DUE OCTOBER 1st: Summer CAS Hours

(3) Continue working on CAS hours

(1) Continue working on CAS hours

(2) DUE FEBRUARY 15th: Fall CAS Hours

(3) Due: Subject for Extended Essay

(4) Due: Mentor for Extended Essay

(5) Extended Essay: Come up with a topic, Start working on initial research, and produce an outline

(6) MAY: IB Exams for SL classes

(7) DUE JUNE 1st: Spring CAS Hours

(1) Continue with CAS hours

(2) Do IB Summer Reading and IB Assignments

(3) Attend the Extended Essay Camp - work on draft

(4) Continue research on Extended Essay

(1) DUE 1st WEEK OF SEPTEMBER: 2,000 word Rough Draft of Extended Essay

(2) DUE OCTOBER 1st: Summer CAS Hours

(3) DUE OCTOBER 1st: 2,500 word Rough Draft of Extended Essay - If not turned in, student is not registered as an IB Diploma Candidate but still has an opportunity to re-register if rough draft is turned in

(4) DUE JANUARY AFTER WINTER BREAK: 3,500 word Rough Draft of Extended Essay - If not turned in, student is automatically withdrawn as an IB Diploma Candidate with no chance to re-register

(1) DUE AFTER JANUARY TEACHER WORKDAYS: Final Draft of Extended Essay

(2) DUE APRIL 1st: All CAS Hours

(3) Completed IA's for all courses

(4) MAY: IB Exams for HL/SL Classes

(5) MAY: File request with IB Coordinator for transcripts of all IB Exam Scores

(1) If approved, complete CAS hours

(2) Check IB Website for IB Exam Scores (usually in July/August)

(3) Late summer or September receive IB Diploma in the mail
