IB/MYP CURRICULUM

The MYP curriculum model holistic, interdisciplinary learning refined through engagement with five Areas of Interaction. These areas serve as conceptual lenses through which students explore and examine ideas, probe connections across and through subject areas, and use what they are learning in school to solve real world problems.

APPROACHES TO LEARNING (ATL) - This area focues on the development of intellectual disciplines, attitudes, strategies and skills that result in critical, coherent and independent thought and the capacity to solve problems and make decisions.

COMMUNITY AND SERVICE - Service encourages students to look beyond themselves to develop community awareness and concern, a sense of responsibility, and skills and attitudes needed to make an effective contribution to society.

HOMO FABER - Using "Man the Maker" to analyze evolution, processes and products of human imagination, students explore the inventive and creative nature of humanity. Students consider the impact of innovation - including their own work - on society and on the mind.

ENVIRONMENT - This area aims to help students recognize humanity's dependence and interdependence with the environment. In the MYP, environment extends from personal and school settings to encompass local, national, and global environmental issues.

HEALTH AND SOCIAL EDUCATION - This area prepares students for a physically and mentally healthy life, aware of potential hazards and able to make informed choices. It develops in students a sense of responsibility and for their own well being as they develop healthy relationships with others.
