IB/MYP CREATIVITY, ACTION, AND SERVICE (CAS)
MYP Students at J.E.B. Stuart High School serve their communities by:
- Responding positively to the needs of others
- Understanding how they can make a difference
- Using their talents for the good of their community
- Developing a sensitivity to their community's needs
- Reflecting upon the value of their service
We organize Community and Service into three kinds of experiences: Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS). All 9th and 10th Grade students are expected to participate in one creative, one action, and one service project per year.
CREATIVITY
The creativity component focuses on activities in which students work with others to develop their imaginative and creative side, and use their creative abilities to meet the needs of others.
ACTION
The action component includes physical activities in which students develop their abilities and understanding of how teams work and how individuals work together in a common pursuit.
SERVICE
The service component involves the students interacting with their communities, working with and for others in unpaid circumstances. The community students serve may be their school, neighborhood, state, nation, or the world.
