The Stratford Landing Library is a direct extension of the classroom, supporting all programs of study. It is designed to provide access to diverse materials, small or large group instruction and the type of flexibility that reflects the philosophy of our school. Our library is open to individual and group activities throughout the day for circulation of materials, independent study, research and recreational reading and creative activities. Stratford operates an Open/Flexible/and Fixed Schedule library program with blocks of Open and Scheduled times each day. The library sponsors several school-wide activities each year. These include the Book Fair, Book Swap, Virginia Reader’s Choice and three RIF distributions. We encourage you to visit the library often!

CHECK-OUTS:
Each student has a library card which is kept at the circulation desk. The normal check-out period is two weeks, and checkouts may be renewed. One of our goals is to teach students that books are to be borrowed, read, and then returned in a timely manner. To teach this responsibility, Kindergarten and First grade students are encouraged to return their books each week during their regularly scheduled library time. Students in grades 2-6 participate in our Open Library which allows them to come to the library with a library pass at any time to read, check out books or do research. |
