Stratford Landing Elementary Library

The Stratford Landing Library is a direct extension of the classroom, supporting all programs of study.  It is designed to provide access to diverse materials, small or large group instruction and the type of flexibility that reflects the philosophy of our school.  Our library is open to individual and group activities throughout the day for circulation of materials, independent study, research, recreational reading and creative activities.  The library operates an Open/Flexible/Partially Fixed Schedule program.  The library sponsors the annual Book Fair and the Virginia Readers Choice program.  We encourage everyone to visit the library often.

Check outs

CHECK-OUTS;
Each student has a library card which is kept at the circulation desk.  The normal check-out period is two weeks and checkouts may be renewed. One of our goals is to teach students that books are to be borrowed, read, and then returned in a timely manner. To teach this responsibility, Kindergarten students are encouraged to return their book each week during their regularly scheduled library time.  Students in grades 1-6 participate in our Open Library program which allows them to come to the library with a pass to read, check-out books or do research.  We do not have a limit on the number of books a student may check-out until they have an overdue book.  At that time, they must return the overdue book before continuing to check out.  This keeps the students and the library from loosing too many books.

Stratford Landing Elementary School prepares students academically and socially for their educational career, and the world beyond.
