Activities for 3rd Quarter 2011-2012 Registration Form

Dear Stone Middle School Parents,

I'm excited to inform you about the start of our Prowlin'Panthers After School Program for the 2011-12 school year. Stone Middle School is committed to promoting active participation in extracurricular activities to support the academic mission and enrich the lives of Stone students.

After-School Program Mission

Our shared philosophy is that students who engage in these programs are more likely to develop positive attitudes towards school, achieve full academic potential, and become productive citizens. Students are encouraged to maintain a balance between their instructional studies, after-school activities, and other outside interests.  Throughout the course of this school year, your child here at Stone will have an opportunity to get involved in an array of clubs, volunteer committees and recreational activities.

Program Insight & Information

Registration Your child MUST register to be in the Prowlin’ Panthers After-School Program, even if your child is staying for homework/subject help with a teacher, National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) and SCA.  Registration forms must be signed and returned to the main office BEFORE he/she can participate in the program.   Registration forms are located in the Main Office, Room 141, and here online.

Start dates:  The Prowlin’ Panthers After-School Program will start Monday September 26th. The program will run Monday through Friday from 2:45-6pm.  The program will run quarterly with new clubs to be added each quarter in order to allow students an opportunity to access a broader range of offerings throughout the school year.

Program sessions:  Each day, the Prowlin’ Panthers After-School Program will be divided into two sessions, A and B.  The A session program times are 2:45-4:15pm Monday-Friday (except  Thursday which will be 3:00-5:00pm).  The B session program times are 4:15-6:00pm (except Thursday which will be 5:00-6:00pm). Snacks will be provided for all students who stay beyond 4:15pm in Room 141.

Prowlin’ Panther Calendar:  Before quarter, a schedule and club/activity registration form will be available for students to take home.  Flyers illustrating the purpose of the club, and a description of the activities will be posted online and around the building.

Late Bus:  This year, late buses will be provided on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  Buses will depart at 4:20pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and at 4:50 pm on Thursdays.  There will be no late buses on Monday and Friday afternoons.

I look forward to having your student join us every afternoon for a fun and enriching time.  If you have any questions, please free to contact me at (703) 631-5941.

Thank you,

Nick Anderson
