Presidential Award for Educational Excellence

Fairfax County Eligibility:

1. GPA of 3.5 or higher

a. The calculation includes final grades from 4th grade, final grades from 5th grade, and the average of the first two quarters from 6th grade.

b. Achievement grades in the following subjects are used for the calculation:

-Oral Communications
-Reading
-Spelling
-Written Communications
-Mathematics
-Science
-Social Studies

c. Grades are converted to points in the following way:

-4 points for grades of A and O
-3 points for grades of B and G
-2 points for grades of D and N
-0 points for a U

2. Score between 500 and 600 on either the grade 5 reading SOL or the grade 5 math SOL test

3. Citizenship grades of O, G, or S in the second quarter of 6th grade for the following work habits:
-Accepts Responsibility
-Complies with Established Rules
-Exhibits Self-Control
-Respects Personal and School Property
-Works and Plays Cooperatively
