Environmental Club

The purpose of this club is to increase awareness of the need to recycle the tons of waste paper generated by South Lakes High School. They do a good deed without wanting compensation.

Sponsor: Mr. Matey

Officers:

They meet every monday, and during a typical meeting, attendance is taken, then everyone is assigned areas to be recycled.

Some accomplishments of this club are that they planted a Deodora Cedar in front of the school in honor of South Lakes High School's 25th anniversary and won the "It's Cool to Recycle" contest in 2004 for collecting over 25 lbs. of aluminum cans. Each year they participate in the Potomac watershed clean up in conjunction with the school grounds clean up.
