Chess Club Sponsored by: Charles Cave The purpose of the club is for students to play matches with others in attempt to be the number one player on the team. The team travels to other school for matches. Members must learn five chess openings and five defensive games to play against openings. Students may only challenge openings within two positions on chess ladder of players numbered 1-10.
They meet every Monday and Thursday Their typical meetings, general discussion of effective openings and defenses, example Sicilian defense, and various Gambits, tactics, for playing winning chess. Sometimes Mr. Cave will play the entire chess team in speed chess, example simultaneous Chess Match. |
