Partnership Program
(CPP)
Purpose
Program Features
The essential elements of the CPP, which are described below, include:
(1) college orientation, (2) academic counseling and monitoring, (3)
academic support, (4) personal development training, (5) student mentoring,
and (6) parent involvement. College Orientation provided by colleges
and universities; includes college and career planning, financial aid
options, residential enrichment programs, and campus visits.
CPP Goals
Academic Counseling and Monitoring
Provided by school counselors, college representatives, and school-based
Advocates with assistance from CPP staff to maintain ongoing support
for students and parents
Academic Support
Provided by adult and peer study group facilitators from the schools,
community, and businesses to assist students in achieving satisfactory
results in the classroom
Personal Development Training
Facilitated by school-based Advocates and CPP staff to empower students
with ability to think independently, communicate effectively, manage
conflict, set goals, and develop leadership skills
Student Mentoring
Provided by volunteer staff from local businesses to support, motivate,
and inspire students to excel in and out of school
Parent Involvement
Provided by parents of students at each school; includes learning experiences
and activities for students such as chess, investment planning, money
management, and instruction in mathematics and science using videodisc
educational programs
CPP Meeting Times
The College Partnership Program meets one Monday per month as determined
by the Advocates and members.
