Virginia Board of Education Mission The primary mission of Virginia’s public education system is to educate students in the fundamental knowledge and academic subjects that they need to become capable, responsible, and self-reliant citizens. Therefore, the mission of the Board of Education and the Superintendent of Public Instruction, in cooperation with local school boards, is to increase student learning and academic achievement. Fairfax County Public Schools Vision and Mission Statement: The vision of Fairfax County Public Schools is “to provide a gifted-quality education to every child in an instructional setting appropriate for his or her need.” The vision is supported by a mission “to educate all students to meet high academic standards and to prepare all students to be responsible citizens in the 21st century.” School Vision and Mission Statement: The vision of South Lakes High School is to develop a community of learners who strive for academic excellence and value diversity, intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, and an international understanding for all students. South Lakes High School’s mission is to educate in a learning environment where student achievement is a priority and a right for all students. To achieve this, ongoing assessments will drive instruction, effective teaching strategies will address student needs, and the classroom environment will promote a passion for education. School life will encourage academic success and foster positive behavior. School personnel will effectively communicate with parents and solicit their participation in the greater South Lakes High School community. |
