About Our Program

Art is taught by a certified art teacher, once every two weeks for a period of one hour and twenty minutes, with kindergarten having one hour.  The art teacher, Becky Summers, works in collaboration with classroom teachers to design instruction that integrates with other areas of the curriculum.  Students explore the world of art and artists who work in that world.  In addition, they have the opportunity to express their feelings and ideas and develop skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, cut paper, weaving, stitchery, and architecture.  Art experiences focus on solving problems in creative ways.

When visiting our school you will see our students' art work displayed with pride in halls, offices, classrooms, learning centers and our cafeteria.

Special Programs

Every March we celebrate Youth Art Month with a show of Sangster student art work at the Huntsman Square Shopping Center. Be sure to stop by and see our budding artists!
