After School

The library is open until 4:30 on late bus Mondays & Wednesdays for quiet research.  Students must have a pass from the teacher for whom they are doing the research and a copy of the assignment they will be working on if they want to use the computer.

How many books may I check out?  3

 

How long may I keep library material?

 •  Books - 3 weeks

 •  Magazines - 1 week

 

What happens if a book is late?

•   Students receive late notices through

their English teacher. 

 •  There are no fines for late books, but

a student may not check out any library

material, or go to school dances, if

they have overdue materials.

 •  Reminder:  Do not checkout a book in

your name for someone else.

 

What happens if I lose a book? 

Students are expected to pay for items

which were lost or damaged while in

their care.  Students may not borrow

additional material if they have overdue items.

 

When may I come to the library?

 √ At 7:30 AM, on the way to first period (to

return/checkout books, print out homework).

 √ During lunch:  Must have planner signed by teacher or a lunch administrator.

 √ Anytime, with planner signed by a teacher.

 √ During class visits.

 √ 2:40 - 3:00 to return/checkout a book.

 √ After school on late bus Monday & Wednesdays with planner signed by  the teacher for whom you are working on an assignment AND a copy of the assignment sheet if you want to use the computer. Please note that students will not be admitted after 4:05 on Wednesdays.

 

How do I have access to the online databases the library subscribes to?

•  When at school, your home page is CSMS. Click on the library link on the left side, this will take you to the library page which has a link to the databases.

•  Away from school, open your  FCPS 24-7 account and you will see the Library Media Center (LMC) listed long with your classes.  The LMC file will link you to online databases and provide links to reference and  internet searching sites.

•  If the LMS does not show on your  FCPS 24-7 account, see Ms. Silkwood in the library
