If you would like to order a yearbook, please visit www.yearbookordercenter.com web site and enter our school code 5333. After  December 14, the YEARBOOK ONLY will sell  for $40.00.
All name stamps and autograph supplements will no longer be available after December 14.
Yearbook sales for the $40.00 price will end on 02/01/10.

8th Grade Class Photo -
Blanton Studios recently photographed Rocky Run’s 8th grade class. If you are interested in ordering a photo please visit www.jacksonblanton.com and click on “order online”. No orders will be taken at school. Please do not send any money to school. Photo will be available for purchase after Dec. 1, 2009.

Engineering EXPO & Engineering College Fair -
students and faculty are cordially invited to join us for the second annual Engineering EXPO & Engineering College Fair on Saturday, October 31st here at Chantilly High School. Please the EXPO Flyer and EXPO Agenda for further information.

Cognitive  Abilities Testing at RRMS  (seventh Grade Students)-
On Tuesday, October 20th, RRMS will be administering the Cog-At to all RRMS seventh grade students who are new to FCPS, or have not taken this standardized test (or the Naglieri Test) previously.  The Cog-At is a standardized test that provides information  about students’ developed abilities in verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal reasoning.       

The Cog-At test is also used as one of the instruments for screening for the FCPS Gifted and Talented Center.  If seventh grade parents would like to exercise a one- time option of re-testing their child for purposes of screening for the GT Center, please contact your child’s counselor.  The score achieved from this administration of the Cog-At will accompany a fall screening packet that your child’s counselor will process.  Please see your counselor for any additional information concerning the administration of the Cog-At, or for questions concerning the fall screening for the GT center.

H1N1 Information from FCPS - For information regarding H1N1 (swine flu) please visit the Fairfax County Public Schools web site at http://www.fcps.edu/news/swineflu.htm.

S.T.E.P - Saturday Toward Excellence Program (S.T.E.P.)has been design to support and assist students who benefit from tutoring in all subjects areas.  The emphasis is on academic support for students that are struggling in some classes.  Teachers, counselor, and parents, can identify students that would benefit from the program.  If you would like more information, please view the attached flyer or contact your student’s counselor.

World Languages Credit Exam- The Office of World Languages is offering examinations for credit, please see the attached flyer about upcoming testing dates and contact your counselor for additional information.

John Hopkins University Talented Youth Program - Students interested in participating in the John Hopkins University/Center for Talented Youth Program (CTY) should pick up their applications from their counselor.  Or visit their web site at www.cty.jhu.edu for the most updated information.

TJ Open House - The Thomas Jefferson High School Open House is on Saturday, October 10, 2009 from 8:30 to 11:30am . Additional information will be distributed at our presentation on Back to School night.

Advanced Academic Program Information - The Office of Advanced Academic Programs is holding four parent information nights.  After a brief overview of advanced academic programs K-12, there will be a break-out sessions for parents.   One of the sessions will be on opportunities for advanced academics in high school, including TJ, the International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs.

Rocky Run Open House - Rising 7th graders and 8th graders new to Rocky Run are invited on Sept. 2nd, 2009 at Rocky Run Middle School from 9:00am to 11:00am to get familiar with the school. For details, view the Open House Flyer. Student schedules will be mailed home August 26th, 2009.
